Before Desiree by Design there was Desiree's Fashion Accessories, which started out as a vision that turned into a reality in April 2010. Founder and visionary Desiree L. Patton was a meant-to-be entrepreneur who transitioned from “Greeter” supervisor and field operator for Greater Jamaica Development Corporation to a self-branded name.
Encompassing the training and expertise of business relationships, sales, and a great eye for design, she registered with the state of New York, in June 2010, as sole proprietor for: Desiree's Fashion Accessories, using her passion and love for accessories as her starter brand. This was also a turning point for her career, slowly switching gears from WNBA bound to the Fashion Savvy Entrepreneur. Her favorite saying was,” I am beast on the court, but a diva off!”
October 2010, DFA took a leap of faith and featured at the world's largest expo arena, The Jacob Javit's Center in New York, NY, at the “Circle of Sisters Expo,” which attracted thousands of customers, hundreds of minority-owned businesses, and a showcase of celebrities, such as Steve Harvey, Fantasia, and noted national radio personnel. This major launch separated her from just trying to achieving. This later evolved from making fashion accessories into styling fashion personalities. Hence the name change to Desiree by Design, where the level of expertise of service and style is inspired from the heavenly Father's design.
She is a graduate of the Professional Studies Image Consulting program at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in NY, NY, becoming a certified Image Consultant. Her goal is empowering individuals through fashion, fitness, and style. She has an eye for beautiful exquisite things and an even greater passion to help others discover their best self. Desiree received her undergraduate degree at The City University of New York, York College majoring in Business Administration. Desiree by Design image services include: fashion design, fashion styling, fitness, and much more. In addition, she is a certified life coach, color specialist, and member of the National Association for Professional Women.
Other achievements include: professional dressing for Mercedes Benz NYC Fashion Week, Fashion Show Coordinator of “Runway Glory,” professional tryouts for the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks, and 2013 Image Award Honoree and Commendation for dedicated service and commitment to excellence from the City of New York Office of Comptroller. So, listen out for the name Desiree L. Patton, as this self-acclaimed creator is sure to enter a city, town, or region near you.
Desiree would like to thank her parents for all of their support and belief in helping her start this journey; along with her family, church, loyal customers, and most of all “God the Father Almighty.” Without Him nothing is possible!
